Never seen a bogrács? Visit the 20th International Game and Fish Cooking Competition (XIV. Nemzetközi Hal- és Vadételfőző Verseny) to see the traditional Hungarian cauldrons in action as enthusiastic groups gather to cook up wonderful stews over fires in the garden of the Literary Museum in Széphalom. The joy of cooking outside is certainly understood by hunters and fishermen, and this is plain to see at this earthy celebration of catching, preparing and eating wild animals and fish.

As well as being able to taste the various dishes, there will be:
– pálinka competition
– play area, wooden merry-go-round, traditional games, face painting
– market and artisans
– wine tasting
– concerts
– majorettes and the
- 10th Wood-chopping competition – 10.30 am on Saturday

There’s even Futrinka, a mini electric train to take visitors from the town of Sátoraljaújhely (on the hour) to the garden in Széphalom (on the half hour, 500 HUF per person one way).
