Concerts in June

As warm summer days arrive, what could be better than listening to live music with friends – and perhaps a glass of chilled Furmint – at outdoor concerts? June sees some superb musicians come to the Tokaj wine region, to some of the best festivals. A couple of our music highlights for June 2015…

Tokaj Wine Festival

5-7th June. Unless noted, the concerts are free and on the main stage.

Friday 5th June
Hegyalja Folk – 5 pm
Balázs Szabó concert – 9 pm
Cseh Tamás (poet) set to guitar – 10 pm (Tokaj Museum, 300 HUF)

Saturday 6th June
Nóra Bóta (singer and guitarist) – 6 pm (Hímesudvar)
Cirada Együttes – 6 pm
Maszkura és a Tücsökraj – 9 pm

Sunday 7th June
Agyabanda folk – 3 pm
Adrienne Hauser piano recital – 4 pm (Cultural and Conference Centre, 2000 HUF)
Kowalsky meg a vega – 6 pm

Sonny Rollins Night

– Tállyai Wine Bar Friday 20th June

Sonny Rollins jazz night as soloist Attila Rieger joins Elek István Quartet. Wine tasting too.

International Music Day ar Cultural House, Sárospatak – as mainly local musicians bring sounds to the streets throughout the day. Highlight at 8 pm is Ferenczi György és a Rackajam who describe themselves as playing a “shockingly interesting fusion of 21th century urban folk music and traditional genres. An indefinite blend of rock n’ roll, soul, blues.

Friday 26th to Sunday 28th June

So many brilliant concerts! Jazz to classical, folk to accoustic. World and DJ. And so many interesting venues! Wineries to adventure centre, even a church and synagogue. This is a weekend to immerse yourself in the culture and wines of the region. But be sure to get your tickets in time.
