A weekend of wine, enchantment and friendship in a sparkling mood! Why witchy weekend? Historical sources tell us it was in Tarcal where, in 1100, the Hungarian king Coloman the Learned declared a law prohibiting the persecution of strigae – vampires or mares – because they “do not exist”.

This family-friendly fun weekend is based around folk culture, womanhood and, naturally, wine. Events will be published soon. Thematic tasting organised by Mád Circle. The cult of Pope St Urban is being revived in the region where his relics lie and are taken ceremoniously through the region. Grape growing and winemaking have accompanied humanity throughout history. In Hungary the Mongol invasion and much later phylloxera devasted not only the vines but also the culture of the region. And many of these rich folk traditions are being revived
