Experience a rare side of Hungarian museums as they open the night of 25th June! Torchlit castles, wine bars in galleries, jumping over fire! Events throughout the region, indeed the country on this Night of the Museums (Hu: Múzeumok Éjszakája).
The two main centres in Sárospatak are both in the castle district: the Castle itself and around the gallery/St Elisabeth House.
The Castle – gate opens at 7.15 pm
All night – star gazing from the Red Tower, archery, lead figure pouring, embroidery, pasta making, handcrafts and more
The events:
7.50 pm – Csavar Theatre – comedy for children
8.25 pm – Napraforgó Meseszínház – fairy tales
10.00 pm fire jumping in the castle garden
10.30 pm Folk Error concert
11.30 folk dance house for all to join in
Open exhibitions include the canon foundry, the Red Tower, the Renaissance stone collection, viticulture and viniculture.
Free for under 6s, 300 HUF for children, 600 for adults, 1100 HUF for family.
The gallery and St Elisabeth House
At the other end of the castle district the superb Sárospataki Képtár gallery and St Elisabeth House (Szent Erzsébet Ház) will be open to visitors. More info coming soon…
