Musical adaptation of memories of school years, joys, disgraces and humiliation. As a school child Misi was hard-working at the famous Protestant school in Debrecen. He was to be the best pupil! When he received a package from his parents, who lived in poverty, his school mates not only ate all his food, but scoffed done the boot polish in front of him. His teacher Valkay got him a private student and he was employed to read aloud to blind Mr Pósalaky so he could support his poverty-stricken parents. János Török, who fell for Bella Doroghy, spotted Mr Pósalaky’s winning lottery ticket in Misi’s possession, steals it and escapes with Bella. Misi thought he had lost the ticket. The ethics committee of the school accuse him of deceit because they find the 10 forints in his pocket that János Török had hidden there. Though his innocence is proven finally, the humiliation and pain left eternal marks in the child’s soul. No longer does he want to be a Debrecen student!
