Erdőbénye, snuggled in the basin under the Zemplén mountains, holds its Aszú festival on the third weekend of September. A village celebration, though most of the top wineries will be open too, most from 10 am to 8 pm.

Highlights of the programme

1 pm – Harvest Procession from the football field to the market square
3 pm – Adventures of Vitéz László, a traditional Hungarian folk figure – puppet performance
8 pm – torchlit procession to the main fire
8.30 pm – lighting the fire

Béres holds its regular its Wine Terrace, and celebrates its award as Hungary’s Most Beautiful Vineyard 2015 – from 10 am to 8 pm

Illés – with great mini cellar labyrinth – from 10 am to 8 pm

Kerékgyártó from 9 am to 8 pm

Karádi-Berger – great wines and garden – are open from 2 pm to 7 pm

Turján – also have lovely guest house – from 2 pm to 8 pm
